Snoring relief Chicago

by Ray James

Snoring has become a common problem in Chicago. Just about half of the adult population here snore. Snoring consists of the unpleasant noises made during sleep, usually caused by some type of obstruction or reduced airway. It isn’t just an irritation, it can be a major health concern, one that is drawing increased attention here in Chicago. Depending on what causes the problem, though there are means to solve the problem.

Snoring is the production of unpleasing noises during sleep. Snoring is caused by vibration of the soft tissues due to the weak muscles of the throat and the excess fat gathered around the throat, causing obstruction of the nasal passage and air flow.

Other options include aromatherapy, where an individual inhales essential oils before and during sleeping. Components of the essential oils come in direct contact with the the epiglottis, the pharynx, the nasal cavity, trachea and into the lungs. These components also enter the blood stream via the capillaries (tiny blood vessels) in the alveoli.

Naturopathic products often help some people. These are not usually completely effective and often take considerable time and energy to make them work. Some people have found success with eucalyptus leaves on the pillow, or oblas oil. Others infuse essential oils into a bowl of steaming water, place a towel over their head, and breathe deeply from the bowl.

Sometimes weight and fitness need some fine tuning for snoring to be silenced. Overweight people are more prone to suffer from the problem of snoring. This is because they have many fatty tissues in the neck which narrow the airway, leading to vibration of the soft tissues, or causing snoring. Loosing weight will help you to breathe properly by reducing the fatty tissue of the neck. In general, fitness and diet should be improved to help with snoring, avoiding dairy and fatty foods.

Easier still is making changes in sleep habits. If you sleep on your back, to help with snoring you should change to sleeping on your side. Sleeping on the back makes your snoring worse, narrowing the airway by making your tongue to slide backwards. Sleeping on your side will help you treat your snoring problem.
